As an artist that naturally leans toward realism and capturing truth in the way it is seen, I find that creating more abstracted work of the horse challenges me in a unique way. The focus is more on the essence, the feel, the color, the experience of the horse rather than the actuality of the horse. The aim is not to create what is seen in a typical way but to go beyond what is seen. It becomes something else, something other.
